Counseling for Parents of Anxious Children

As a SPACE treatment provider—Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions—I specialize in assisting parents and caregivers of children and adolescents grappling with anxiety and related challenges.

Anxiety disorders can hinder a child's ability to develop independence, as they often lean heavily on parents for coping rather than learning to navigate anxiety autonomously. My work empowers parents to support their children in effectively managing anxiety and building resilience for future stressors. The focal point is enhancing the child's ability to handle anxiety and develop crucial coping skills.

SPACE is a short-term, 12-session intervention designed to empower you in helping your children overcome challenging anxiety issues.

During these weekly sessions, we collaboratively create and implement tailored strategies both in our meetings and within your home environment.

A pivotal aspect of SPACE is the emphasis on transforming parent behavior. By adapting your own responses, you can mitigate the escalation that stems from trying to force your child to behave differently. Notably, there's no requirement to impose changes directly on your child's behavior. Instead, the focus is on equipping you with the tools to replace accommodating behaviors with supportive responses, fostering an environment that acknowledges your child's challenges while instilling confidence in their coping abilities.
